A 9-day retreat experience with Simon Christopher at the Centre for Discovering A Course in Miracles, Ontinyent (Valencia) Spain.
This is an opportunity to join international students and teachers of A Course in Miracles in a joyfully focused and transformative retreat experience for your continuing journey of awakening. We are offering this unique forum to support and empower you in your advance through the Atonement curriculum of undoing, correction and remembrance of the light in which we were created.
Awakening to the light of reality is the great spiritual undertaking of each individual. Its light has been obscured from awareness and even though it continues without interruption, the split mind of human consciousness, which we call ego, draws a veil, a deliberate contrived mechanism for the denial of the light. More than that, it is heavily invested in illusions and the belief in the false conditionality of separation with complete faith in the world it perceives.
Faith, belief and desire uphold perception of this alternative “virtual reality” and continually direct the mind towards emptiness and oblivion. – “To be told that what you do not see is there sounds like insanity. It is very difficult to become convinced that it is insanity not to see what is there, and to see what is not there instead.” – ACIM W-91.3 – Miracles are seen in light.
“It is impossible to conceive of light and darkness or everything and nothing as joint possibilities. They are all true or all false. It is essential that you realize your thinking will be erratic until a firm commitment to one or the other is made. A firm commitment to darkness or nothingness, however, is impossible.”
A Course In Miracles -Text 3.II.1
The requirement is to engage in a conscious decision to identify and remove the blocks to the awareness of our present, radiant reality in Christ. To that end we will be examining and illuminating the curriculum teachings (including Chapter 19 and the Obstacles to Peace), practices and meditations.
Without fear of God, the light of the eternal, we would leap into Heaven and leave all appearances behind. Therefore there is great benefit in understanding the fear of redemption so that it is recognised for what it is. The way will open up as the fear dissipates by looking directly at it. From there experience will come to reinforce the choice to join the Holy Spirit in remembrance of the light in which our God-created Self shines and offers only miracles.
“You do not think of light in terms of strength, and darkness in terms of weakness. That is because your idea of what seeing means is tied up with the body and its eyes and brain…
The strength in you will offer you the light, and guide your seeing so you do not dwell on idle shadows that the body’s eyes provide for self-deception. Strength and light unite in you, and where they meet, your Self stands ready to embrace you as Its Own. “A Course In Miracles -Workbook 92.9
The light that shines within us is our reality and our Self, drawing us back to it, to reclaim our inheritance. This is God calling, asking us to choose again, to turn away from the noise of illusions and perception of the meaningless and to seek that light where we know we are at Home. Awakening to the light is to journey inwards with conscious direction and awareness of the impediments that arise as we draw nearer the altar to its holiness. As the light is released, along with our minds, we experience the freedom of the limitless and know again the truth of Who we are. Our forgiveness is the key that opens that inner altar from where the light extends to join with those we look upon in that light where we are healed as one.

Our focus will be on understanding our great need to reach the light and to surpass the obstacles which fear raises to block the way. We are surrendering to the attraction of the eternal and divesting ourselves of all little interests which keep us bound to the dark dream of bodies. We are reuniting with the light to overcome the fear which has kept us prisoners in oblivion and coming Home again from a long and senseless journey back to the knowledge of perfect love.
We will foster experience through various practices, meditation, prayer and instruction in the teachings, which lead to direct healing and awareness. We are meeting in a holy instant in which our purpose of awakening is realised as we seek the light and find revealed in that light, all that we have been searching for.
“When the light comes and you have said, “God’s Will is mine,” you will see such beauty that you will know it is not of you. Out of your joy you will create beauty in His Name, for your joy could no more be contained than His. The bleak little world will vanish into nothingness, and your heart will be so filled with joy that it will leap into Heaven, and into the Presence of God.”

There is great happiness as each one learns the humility to take directives from the Voice for God, the Teacher who offers only the simple and uncompromising lesson of complete forgiveness. This lesson has the power to open up the hidden altar to the light of perfection and love.
Herein lies our journey of return to the eternal, given to us in this divinely orchestrated curriculum, – God’s plan for salvation from darkness to the light which lights our minds and every mind throughout creation. All is given us through the auspices of the resurrected man, Christ Jesus – who remains with us on the journey, – one with us in purpose, peace, certainty and Truth.

The Retreat Centre is a little over one hour’s drive from both Alicante and Valencia airports. There are buses from Valencia and from the bus station in Alicante town to Ontinyent. There are also trains from Valencia to Xativa and Ontinyent. We will meet you and collect you where and when we are able to, please let us know your travel details when you book.
