A weekend group experience on the essential teachings, principles and practice of A Course in Miracles, in a joyfully focused healing sanctuary with Simon Christopher in Ealing, West London.
Healing the mind from the dictates of the past and welcoming the release into the present where the dream of awakening offers a whole new world of experience and a new perception beyond all past references.
The miracle is an instant’s recognition of what is now, which we discover in the revealed perception of who the “other” is without their past or ours.
Awakening from the tyrannyof the past has held upon the mind leads to the healing present, the awareness of the eternal, and a moment’s recognition of the holiness we share with each other and our Creator.

Paradoxically, the secret to awakening to the timeless lies in the past. The false concept of the individual is rooted in time, with all its references for perception bound to the past and its own past learning. To know the limitless freedom of the present, we must therefore go back in time to release the past, with all old grievances, judgements and lessons based on past experience re-evaluated, forgiven, undone and forgotten. As we do so the mind experiences a joy and energy that had been held back by our unconscious allegiance to the dark and guilty past. So “we go back to go forward” and release the future from the past and all old past ideast, to find our innocence instead.
Time itself is nothing more than an idea made real to the mind by belief, and all learned human perception is based on the false linearity of time as past, present and future. Therefore we need new ideas about time (Lesson 7) and new experiences to show us that we are not bound by time.
Miracles are the demonstration that time is under our control and not the other way round. The light we seek is wholly of the present where dark memories of the past cannot rise to obscure it from our sight.
“The Atonement is the device by which you can free yourself from the past as you go ahead. It undoes your past errors, thus making it unnecessary for you to keep retracing your steps without advancing to your return. In this sense the Atonement saves time….”

The past is a merciless and cruel teacher but the miracle of true forgiveness opens up the present to the eternal love of God. Without past cause, the conditions for healing are created. Without guilt, the projection onto others is relinquished and our nightmares come to an end. The way to God is found in the reality of now having released the past and chosen the present where eternal peace is found.
“Guilt feelings are the preservers of time. They induce fears of retaliation or abandonment, and thus ensure that the future will be like the past. This is the ego’s continuity. It gives the ego a false sense of security by believing that you cannot escape from it. But you can and must. God offers you the continuity of eternity in exchange. When you choose to make this exchange, you will simultaneously exchange guilt for joy, viciousness for love, and pain for peace.”

Each instant the mind is choosing between the terrifying moment of separation from God or the joyful truth of love’s reality. In each unforgiving thought or act we die again until the choice for life is ours. True forgiveness opens up the holiness of an instant that shows us time cannot come to replace the changeless now. For in the reality of now without our past or future and where we look upon each one without their past, overlooking the shadows we had placed upon the face of Christ, we begin to experience once again the eternal reality of our timeless Self.
