Defense-less-ness

A weekend experience on the essential teachings and lessons of A Course in Miracles, in a joyfully focused healing sanctuary, with Simon Christopher in Ealing, West London.
Saturday & Sunday, May 25th & 26th – 10:00am to 5:30pm daily.
To find true freedom and open up the mind to the light of our own reality we must look directly at the defenses, mostly unconscious or habitually ingrained, that serve to protect the little self from its magnitude in God. The split mind is a developed complex of defenses, for if defenses were laid aside there would be no barrier between ourselves and the universe of Truth. The ego would be all undone and we would awaken from the dream and be restored to the eternal. And just as the teachings elucidate, the fear of God and consequently of the “other person”, should not be underestimated. It is the justification for the established mechanisms that perpetuate the fearful dream of separation and the inherently manifest forms of suffering which are an inevitable consequence of identifying with the body and the body-mind.
Through tried and tested experience we come to learn that defenselessness is our safety and escape from fear. The existential threat that needed such heavy and constant defense is found to be nothing at all. How much happiness, joy and freedom is to be found in loosening the manacles that have kept us enslaved to our defenses. What we thought was safety only served to imprison. Now we look in peace beyond defensiveness to freely join with Christ in everyone.
“Defenses are the costliest of all the prices which the ego would exact. Yet love needs no defense against the truth of its reality for defenselessness can never be attacked. Only realize that your defenselessness is all that is required for the truth to dawn upon your mind.” ACIM W.153/135
This is a course in awakening the memory of our original innocence, which is found spontaneously when we understand we need no defense to hold it off from our awareness. What needs defense is not the truth. and our reality can never be assaulted or attacked, diminished, or reduced in any way. The Christ in you will come forth when defenses are recognized and laid aside. For what is eternal has not been destroyed and awaits our decision to make a better choice and welcome it exactly as it is now and has always been, as our own changeless reality in God.
